Jack Haberer is Coming!
Editor of the
Presbyterian Outlook
Do you ever feel like you don’t understand what the Presbyterian Church (USA) is doing?
How do they make those “crazy” decisions in Louisville or wherever General Assembly is held every two years?
Why are churches leaving the Presbyterian Church (USA)? Will my church leave?
Jack Haberer, Editor of the
Presbyterian Outlook, will lead a discussion on these topics as well as where the Presbyterian Church (USA) is and where it is going. Join us Friday night, November 15, 2013 for dinner at 6:00 pm. Following the conversation with Jack there will be a time for dessert and drinks.
To register for Friday night, please email P.J. Brobston at
pj@montgomerycenter.org. Cost is $25. Rooms are available overnight for an additional charge.
Or get more information on Saturday's
Enrichment.
In Memory of Fred Johnson
Fred Johnson, Director of Montgomery Presbyterian Center from 1993-2000, passed away on Thursday, October 10, following a battle with MRSA.
Fred was born in Brownsville, PA, on February 1, 1932, and died October 10, 2013, in Gainesville, FL. He was married to Madeleine Johnson and they are survived by their three children Jim, Juliette and Jay, who gave them eight beautiful grandchildren. Before answering God’s call to “build my camps”, Fred served in the Army as a contractor. He was an Aquatic Director with the YMCA before directing camps in Texas and Washington state.
Fred and Madeline served as Co-Directors of Montgomery Presbyterian Center from 1993-2000. While here, they oversaw the building of Williams Lodge, the Inn and the renovation and expansion of the Dining Hall and office. They helped to take Montgomery to new heights as a facility with new program ideas. Fred loved to watch Montgomery grow into a sacred place where many people, young and old, could enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.
A memorial service will be held for Fred on November 23 at Montgomery Presbyterian Center. For more specific information, please contact Montgomery Presbyterian Center.
