Weekly Digest

Rich, warm, and cozy

Hello, everyone! This week still had me thinking about wardrobe textures, especially since fall and winter are times to wrap yourself in things that are rich, warm, and cozy.

For instance, a fun jacquard short will bring texture into spring and summer, and a cable knit menswear cardigan is a cozy layering piece (read below for a review!).

Also, fall items are starting to make their way to the sales, including a few items I've worn on the blog recently. Check them out below. =)

Cheers!

(PS...Since I don't post item reviews on the blog anymore, I figured I'd add any reviews I have to the weekly emails. If you like this idea (or not), you can let me know by replying to this email.)

Review:

Size: XXS Petite

Measurements: shoulder 12" :: length 22.5" :: bust 15" :: waist 14" :: sleeve 22.5"

The Fit: Designed for a shrunken fit, this sweater hits me at a more modest length, but is lightyears better than other similar cardigans I've tried (which often hit at a much lower point, emphasizing hips in an unflattering way). A fitted shoulder and sleeves off-set the roomy torso, feminizing the "grandpa sweater" while still keeping that easy, relaxed fit.

The Good: I've been on the lookout for shrunken grandpa-ish cardigans with side pockets for a while, and this one is the best I've come across in terms of details and fit. I'm especially fond of v-neck cardigans because I feel they're more flattering than crew-necks, and look better when layered under blazers and jackets. This one fits the bill. The colors are neutral, but tipped edges give it interest and contrast. The cable knit gives it a nice texture, and the sweater is thick enough to be warm in mild winter climates, but thin enough for easy layering under blazers and coats. Reviews on the LOFT website are very positive.

The Bad: This cardigan has a small mohair content which sheds a bit, as can be seen on the black contrast piping on the cardigan itself. I'd imagine wearing with lint-prone items could be problematic. It can also be a bit itchy against sensitive skin, which isn't a problem if you wear layers underneath. I hope a wash will help.
