  • FoG commemorates the 9th anniversary of the Indian Ocean Boxing Day Tsunami.
  • 1008 Nokero solar power bulbs distributed among North/ East students.
  • Distribution of 1,700+ Essential School Supplies Packages to schools in the North, South and East.
  • Neethipuram Water & Sanitation Project nears completion.
  • 5 players from FoG attend the Ethugalpura Chess Challenge 2013, in Kurunegala.
  • 31 students become the second batch to graduate from the North Oddusuddan, Mullaitivu IT Centre.
  • The Shelton Gunasekera Memorial Swimming Championship was held at the Seenigama Sports Academywith the participation of over 150 students from surrounding schools and villages.
  • Trustees Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena win 1 million rupees for FoG playing 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' on MTV.
  • Lahiru Pre-School held their annual concert.
  • A workshop on writing monthly reports was conducted by Dr. Shanthikumar Hettiarachchy.
  • Malkanthi Hettiarachchy conducts a workshop on counselling for the psycho-social team.
  • International triathlon competitor Lakruwan Wijesiri attends training workshop in Singapore with help from FoG.
  • 13 welfare projects to the value of Rs. 275,788/- were carried out this month to improve beneficiaries' quality of life.
  • The Foundation is delighted to have 2 resident volunteers from overseas in action this month.

  • Students to graduate from the Village Heartbeat Centres located in two Southern villages, Udumulla and Rathgama.

Sector Spotlight: Children's Goodness Club
This inspirational movement was  set up to inculcate the spirit of goodness in children. This programme which is run by the children includes workshops, activities, fun games and community work projects that encourage a more thoughtful, grateful and helpful outlook.

Sector Spotlight: Medical Centre
Originating in 1999 as a Maternity Clinic, the facility grew when the provision of medical care became a top priority immediately following the 2004 tsunami. The Medical Centre was formally established in 2005, and the Dental Clinic added in 2007. The compound now also includes a laboratory and pharmacy. This modern purpose built centre is one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in rural Sri Lanka benefitting an average of 15,000 patients from over 30 villages every year.
