Putting an exclamation point on 2013!

Wow! Can you believe we are in the final month of the year? I hope 2013 has been a year full of insights, inspiration and success for you.

The Southern Region board is thrilled with the feedback from our 2013 Southern Region Tour of four one-day conferences and the incredible engagement from YOU ... our amazing members!

Speaking of engagement, thanks to all of you who participated in our IABC Southern Region Member Survey. With your feedback, we can make our Region -- and your chapters -- the best they can be. We learned that many of our members are unclear about the role of the Region as it relates to International and their local chapters. We are committed to clarifying and establishing the role of Southern Region to serve you in the best way possible. As always, your input is highly valued and consistently encouraged. Please never hesitate to call or email me with your ideas and feedback!

The survey also shows the majority of our Southern Region members see the most value in their local professional development and networking opportunities and that chapter leaders want to know how to engage members and recruit volunteers. We’ll take a look at the best practices in our Region, and share those with you.

We exist to serve and provide value to the members and chapters and leaders in our Region. One of the exciting new ways we’re planning to do that is by honoring outstanding leaders in our Region. We are establishing three new awards: IABC Southern Region Communicator of the Year, Rising Star of the Year and a Southern Region Hall of Fame which will honor a leader who has served our Region in outstanding ways over the years. Stay tuned for details coming in the new year and start thinking about who you think (yourself?) should be nominated for these awards, to be presented at our 2014 Southern Region Conference in Austin next October (see story below).

As we head into our annual month of happy hubbub, I send you heartfelt wishes for a joy-filled and "peace-full" holiday season. See you in 2014 for a super exciting year for the Southern Region!

All the very best to you and yours.

Southern Region Website

As has been the case with many local chapter websites, the SoReg site has been affected by the recent changes in IT infrastructure, including users experiencing temporary outages and receiving error messages.

The Southern Region board will be investigating our options to ensure we are using our resources most efficiently. There is the possibility of a renewed site to be released early next year.

We'll keep you informed of plans as they progress.
