Rule of Three
It's both

Many people will tell you that wine is made in the vineyard – that the vines, climate and soil determine a wine’s taste. Others will tell you that the true art of winemaking happens in the winery where decisions are made on how grapes are fermented and aged. We believe that the answer lies somewhere between. Making interesting wine is an art based on a science in both the vineyard and the winery. Knowing how a grape matures is science, knowing when to harvest is art. Knowing the principles of fermentation and aging is science, knowing what varietals to blend with your grapes to express character without changing it, is art.

We previously mentioned our recent trip to the Uco Valley in Mendoza with a focus on our 2012 vintage. While there we also checked on our 2013 vintage, which has been happily aging since its harvest last April. Our 2013 malbec has only just begun its 2 year journey from vineyard to glass but is already expressing its sense of place loud and clear. So what did we sit around a table deliberating? Click through the above video for the answer and a peek at the more artful (and fun!) side of winemaking. We can't wait to share our wine with you.
