Happy New Year!

Over the next few months we look forward to the official launch of CAP (details below). We are also participating in exciting opportunities in Canada and abroad to expand our horizons and connect with members of the global mental health community who share our devotion to transformational change.

We have really enjoyed connecting with so many of you over the past few months as we have ventured into the world of social media. We are excited to read more of your tweets and updates as we expand. We look forward to connecting with more of you!

Kindest regards,

Joelle Sholzberg

Projects

CAP: Coalition for Access to Psychotherapy

The prevalence and effects of mental health problems are far-reaching - 20% of Canada's population suffers from a mental health problem every year. CAP (capqc.ca), under the leadership of GBF and the Mental Illness Foundation, strives to advocate for improved access to pyschotherapy services in Quebec as recommended by the Health and Welfare Commissioner (CSBE) in his 2012 report.

CAP believes that people with mental disorders, like those who suffer from other health problems, should have access to an optimal combination of services, treatments and support.

Events

IAYMH 2013: The 2nd International Youth Mental Health Conference

This fall, GBF joined professionals, researchers, policy makers, young people and families at a conference in Brighton, UK.

Hosted by the International Association for Youth Mental Health (IAYMH) and co-convened by Professors Patrick McGorry (Aus) and Max Birchwood (UK), the conference focused on 'young people at the forefront of reshaping services'.

GBF was fortunate to have met several youth representatives at the conference who have allowed us to share their impressions on the conference and on youth mental health.

GBF raised a total of $1,605. Thank you to all who donated to MoBoeckh and Movember campaigns in support of men's health.
