Community group activities in 2013

The Unley groups obtained funding from the Unley Council to provide 60 residents with small gardening kits.  The kits included 4 rectangular planter boxes, potting soil, fertiliser & seedlings, including herbs, Asian greens, lettuces.  They had 2 workshops - one before the delivery, and one to report back after they'd had them for 2 months.  The residents have been enthusiastic and really appreciated being part of the project.  They're planning to seek Council funding for a further project next year.

The College Park - Hackney Group celebrated a new edition of the booklet No Such Thing As Rubbish.

The Unley Central group watched "The Story of Stuff" early in the year - this generated lots of animated chat!  Discussions in the group have included the Ecological Footprint of goods they buy (they wrote to Choice in relation to this one).

The McLaren Vale Group has set up their own website as a tool for networking with like-minded groups in the area. They also ran workshops on how to blog and have now have a number of people contributing blogs which you can read here.

Community Action for Sustainability (Mt Gambier Group) ran a series of movie discussion nights culminating in a series of movies and speakers on unconventional gas exploration.
