Forum STIC Paris-Saclay

DigiCosme, Digiteo and SystemX organized for the first time a joint event dedicated to the overall ICT scientific community: the Forum STIC Paris-Saclay. SystemX's projects had a place of honor in the poster exposition that participants could visit all day long.

IdexLab

During a heads up session, Tahar Cherif and Jean-Louis Liévin presented Idexlab that they have created two years and a half ago. Platform dedicated to open innovation, its purpose is to connect companies encountering a problem with experts who have already solved similar issues. Four mini-workshops will be soon organized in the institute to identify teams’ needs.
 

Engineers' recruitment Forum

On November 19th, SystemX attended the sixth edition of the Engineers' Recruitment Forum of the Paris-Sud University that gathered more than 40 companies and students from engineers field. SystemX boasted all its current vacancies to students on site: jobs, theses and internships.
 

Heads'up Paris-Saclay Campus

Patrick Cheenne, in charge of the economic development for EPPS, ran a special heads up session about the Saclay plateau's future constructions. He detailed more specifically the evolution around Nano-Innov and the project for the transport network (right-of-way public transport and subway). Thaï delegation

A Thaï delegation composed of people from the Thaï Research Fund and the Office of the Higher Education Commission took the opportunity of a stay in France to meet SystemX operational management team and to understand what challenges the institute wants to address. As part of the event, Patrick Leboeuf, Deputy Director of Research of Paris-Saclay Foundation, gave them a full picture of the Campus' dynamism from a research and innovation point of view.
 

CAPS' visit

David Bodet, CAPS' President (Communauté d'Agglomération du Plateau de Saclay) came to visit SystemX on November, 22nd. Eric Perrin-Pelletier and Pascal Cléré seized this opportunity to give him their vision of the institute's future. David Bodet also got the chance to discuss with some of our research engineers about three emblematic projects: ELA, ROM and MIC. Find out more about his venue

Neighborhood

"Which France in 10 years? Which productive model?"
On November, 22nd, a debate was organized at HEC by the EPPS, FCS Campus Paris-Saclay and Systematic as part of a wider initiative initiated by the General Commissariat for Strategies and Forecasts about the future for the French’s productive system. Eventually, the reflexion is supposed to result in a national strategy for the ten next years. Find out more about the debate on Saclay and  the overall operation.

R&D projects

ROM project

On November, 18th, a « model reduction » day was organized by ROM project with two special guests, specialists of this topic: Francisco Chinesta (Ecole Centrale Nantes) and David Ryckelynck (Mines ParisTech). In addition to their respective presentation, the audience exchanged views about use cases that ROM project deals with. This seminar gathered about thirty participants. IMM project

IMM project was officially launched on November, 4th. This project aims at developing an open platform for test research, development and certification in order to analyze non-structured multilingual multimedia. Olivier Mesnard (CEA) joined it as a project manager. 

SystemX talents in motion

AINTEC Conference
James Roberts
(senior scientist working within ARE project (Network architecture)) was invited to speak at the Asian Internet Engineering Conference (AINTEC 2013) in Chiang Mai, Thailand. In a talk entitled "Active queue management and packet scheduling, again", he explained how experience in areas as diverse as home networks and data center interconnects has revealed weaknesses in traditional congestion control and queue management algorithms. He discussed recently proposed enhancements and stressed the importance of reinforcing network control over resource sharing via packet scheduling.


DNAC Congress
In November, Makhlouf Hadji has presented a research paper at the 27th congress DNAC on Cloud Computing and Virtualized Networks in Paris, France. In a presentation entitled “Dynamic Resource Allocation in Clouds: Smart Placement with Live Migrations”, Makhlouf detailed the benefits of optimizing resource consumption in Clouds using a smart and efficient placement and a faster migration solution working in tandem.
