Lesson 63: Flesh Wants to Keep Us in the Dark
If something feels right, how can it be wrong? Many sins result from trusting our feelings. The flesh doesn’t tell us that adultery is right; it whispers that “true love” is beautiful. The flesh wants to convince you that your case is special or different from other sinners.
Sin loves to hide in the dark, and to keep you in the dark (ignorant of God’s Word). Anyone (saved or not) is bound to stumble if they don’t know what God desires. The believer’s mind is renewed in Christ, but some darkness remains.
1 Cor.13:12 now we see in a mirror dimly…Now I know in part
God’s Word is the light for our path to keep us from stumbling.
Psa.119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path
The flesh often wins by keeping us ignorant that God commands His children to be holy.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
