A most happy holiday from the My Sister Knits family to yours.  We hope that the last few days of 2013 are filled with time to relax, celebrate and perhaps a few well earned moments of knitting without deadlines.

This coming month has an excitingly full calendar at the shop.  We have all kinds of new classes that will be meeting around our work tables, and some gorgeous new arrivals that we are eagerly anticipating.  You'll want to keep your eyes on our Facebook page for updates on what's going on.

January is typically the time when we get to focus on "selfish knitting".  For some of us this means giving ourselves that time to learn a new skill, for others it may mean working on something for ourselves, and for still others it can mean casting on for a large ambitious project that will take most of the remaining winter months to complete.  We would love to help, encourage, or just hear about whatever the catalyst of the New Year inspires you to get working on.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Tiny Owl Knits Trunk Show

Come have a treat with Stephanie!  Another wonderful local designer will be paying us a visit at the shop on Saturday Janurary 25th.  Stephanie Dosen of Tiny Owl Knits will be in the shop autographing copies of her new book Woodland Knits.

Her beautiful designs are playful and magical with a touch of whimsy that you might enjoy.  Her Moonkoosa boots have been very popular this fall, our shop samples knit up in various sizes have inspired knitters of all ages to cast on and get felting!

She'll be bringing a fun selection of her newest samples, as well as some old favorites that we've always wanted to see in person.

We hope that you can join us for this special FREE event.

A New Way of Learning

We know how busy your are.  It can be close to impossible to find a way to fit classes and workshops into already jam packed schedules.  And yet we have heard from you how eager you are to learn new things, especially at the start of the year.

We have designed an exciting selection of shorter, one session skills clinics with you in mind.  These clinics cover very specific material and were designed to be approachable to new knitters and intermediate knitters alike.

A quick list of all the January clinics is listed below to the right, and you can check out our website for more details of what each clinic will be covering.

Many of these clinics are designed to dovetail into one another, and so if you have the time and the inclination, you could join us for an entire morning building skills that will take your knitting to whole new level.  We've created some special discounts to make it easier to sign up for as many of our new clinics as you have time for.  Sign up and pre-pay for 2 classes and get 10% off the class fee. Sign up and pre-pay for three or more, and receive a 20% discount off the class fee.

You may want to consider signing up with a friend.  You can come a little early to get caught up and then spend some time together learning something new!

We are continuing to keep our class sizes small to ensure that you have more fun, and get more out of the class.  But this means that space is limited.  Please give us a call at the shop at 970-407-1461 to get signed up as soon you have a chance to check your availability.

Swans Island and Wool People

At the end of January we'll have a very special trunk show to share with you.  You'll want to pop into the shop to see what our sample knitters have been working on.  Using many of our favorite Swans Island yarns such as the Natural Colors Worsted and Fingering, the Organic Washable, and the laceweight Merino Silk; we'll be able to fill the shop with sweaters and accessories that are going to take your breath away.

The stars of the show are likely to be samples from the Wool People 6 collection that was curated and published by the Brooklyn Tweed team earlier this fall.  This collection highlights the work of some of our favorite designers such as Carrie Bostick Hoge, and Ann McCauley; as well as the work of some designers who are new to us, and are going to be worth keeping track of in the future.

We will be stocking up on your favorite colors of all of the Swans Island yarns we carry, and we will be gathering orders for any out of stock requests you may have.

We know that working with this beautiful yarn can only make your winter knitting better, and what could be a better way of starting the new year than with a project you can't wait to get your hands on?
