Visit our new website for all the latest on events, training programmes, champions and scouts, research projects, customer care standards – in short everything we’re doing to help create jobs and boost Bournemouth’s tourism economy.

You’ll find links to relevant events and organisations nationwide, details of conferences, seminars and meetings the NCTA team has attended.

Customer Care Champions and the new scouts have their own forum for sharing customer care experiences and views as we all work together to raise the bench-mark for service levels across Bournemouth.

If you’d like to join us, simply contact Natalie Tye: Natalie.tye@bournemouth.gov.uk

There’s a link to Bournemouth Tourism’s events page for all that’s happening in the area, a calendar listing all our subsidised training courses, blogs, tourism industry news and much more.

Take a look and feedback your thoughts!

Calling Champions and Scouts!

If you’re an existing Champion, you’ll know we’re recruiting an additional tier of volunteers to reward top standards of service across Bournemouth – Scouts.  We’re looking for hundreds of new lookouts representing every business sector as well as students and residents and staff from restaurants, hotels, attractions and retail.

With hundreds of Scouts scouring the town and nominating staff for awards, the drive to improve service standards will scale new levels.  If you know someone who’s regularly out and about in Bournemouth who could join the campaign, email champions@coastaltourismacademy.co.uk

Champions are in the process of being contacted by the NCTA’s Natalie Tye, who is collecting original packs and retail vouchers and replacing them with new packs containing a champion ID card, nomination cards, poster to display at your work, an explanatory champion’s and scout’s leaflet and more.

Thanks so much for all your work to date – your commitment is hugely appreciated.

All trained up

There’s still time to come to join a course we’re running this week – Enhancing the Customer Experience which takes place on Thursday 28 November, great value at £30 per person.

Visit HERE for more, or contact joanne.huey@bournemouth.gov.uk
Don’t miss out on a last-minute place!

We’re launching a line-up of new, tailor-made training courses – lively, engaging and designed specifically for Bournemouth tourism businesses – click on the training event calendar on the website for details.  Each course is heavily subsidised by the Academy, so offers great value and will focus on a range of subjects including marketing, social media, website management, customer service and much more.

Become a prized Bournemouth Ambassador

We’re rapidly approaching the massive 1000 milestone on our Bournemouth Ambassador training programme.  To celebrate, we’re offering a prize to the star 1000th Ambassador – so if you have a team member who hasn’t joined the distinguished Ambassador assembly, encourage them to do it now!  It provides great all-round understanding of everything the town offers visitors, a series of useful customer service tips, takes under an hour, and is completely free – why not log on now and be in with a chance of a prize?

Hearts and Minds

With tourism worth an immense £464m to Bournemouth, ensuring visitors feel welcome and are made to feel special is vital to safeguard the town’s economic prosperity.  So we’re launching a Hearts and Minds campaign dedicated to our residents to encourage everybody to treat visitors like guests and go the second mile to be hospitable.

A short video on our website home page, www.coastaltourismacademy.co.uk, gives a snap-shot as to what residents estimate tourism to be worth.  It makes thought-provoking viewing!

Early next year, we’ll be releasing a new film, The Big Invite, featuring residents demonstrating how much the whole town appreciates tourists and sending friends and family a personal invite to Bournemouth, particularly during the shoulder months.  Watch out for screenings across town!

And...thank you!

A big thank you to all the businesses who’ve been willing to work with us on business consultations – it’s been hugely helpful in helping us plan different elements of the NCTA strategy.  We promise to be back in touch shortly.

And if we haven’t made contact with your business yet, do get in touch, simply contact Natalie.tye@bournemouth.gov.uk
