CLUB ACTIVITIES

Picnic In the Park

We would like to invite everyone to our annual Picnic in the Park on Tuesday January 7th 2014. It's held at Richard's Park, Norwood (map). Not only will it be a casualy fun day of fellowship but we'll be inducting two new members into our club - Melissa Toupin-Laforge and Joshua Dan Richards.

BYO everything and aim to share. There will be a BBQ already there for us to use.

Happy Holiday Wishes

We love the holiday seasons so we thought we'd make a song and dance about it. Here's the video. From all of us here at RC of Kent Town to all of you, we hope your holiday season is full of the gifts of family, friendship and love.

Joint Christmas Party with the RC of St Peters

Recently the RC of St Peters hehad their annual Christmas Party and RC Kent Town were invited in sharing with them good cheer, food and drinks.  We even had a visit from Santa, one of his elf's and a Christmas Tree bearing gifts for everyone.

Some money was raised toward Shelter Box.

A Paul Harris Fellowship Saphire Pin Award was honored to Phil Smith and a presentation to Honorary Member Fred Stewart for this contribution to Rotary made ove the years. Our congratulations to the RC of St Peters and especially to Phil and Fred.  It was a great night.

Rotary Family Month

December is Family Month on the Rotary calendar and what better time of year to celebrate that sense of family. As leaders within Rotary, it is important that we reach out to our famillies and friends and say "thank you", and to let them know just how important they are, not just to our Rotary work, but as cherished Rotary family members. What you look at it this way, it's not just about looking outside that will allow us to archieve the work of Rotary, It's also about looking inside to our families and sharing the fun of Rotary.

Listen to Dr Jonathan Welch, Rotary Ambassador ROT-031213.wav

ANNOUNCEMENTS

RI International Convention Host Organising Committee Volunteers

The plans are well under way for us to present to the world the best Rotary International Convention ever - Sydney 2014

This may be the only chance that many Rotarians will have to experience this great event.  Some say that "one only really knows Rotary after participating in such a convention."  PDG Barry Philips (District 9685) and I are the Coordinators of the Host Organising Committee Volunteers and are keen to have all members of your club involved. Some will be attending the full convention. For others, understandably, this may not be possible due to family business or financial constraints. However, all have the chance to be involved a Volunteer whether they are Convention Registrants or not.

We have jobs, venues and time slots which should suit the majority of people. To learn more about Volunteering at this year's convention visit http://rotary2014.com.auve

Don't forget to use the various "drop downs" and complete the vest sizes.

Thank you,
PDG Marily Mercer
Joint Volunteering Coordinator RI Convention
