Chairman's Message
This issue of our newsletter illustrates the diversity of the Pathology Department, ranging from our collaborative conservation efforts with the Bronx Zoo to our use of high technology in research. We profile Dee McAloose, DVM, Assistant Professor of Pathology at Einstein and Head of Pathology at the Bronx Zoo, on her recent discovery of canine distemper virus in Russia’s Siberian tigers; immunology researcher David Fooksman, PhD, who is using a multi-photon microscope to observe immune cells in intact organs of live subjects; and Dr. Yitzchak Goldstein, fourth-year Pathology Resident, who is using technology to predict blood clots in Montefiore patients. We also laud our department members on their many achievements.

Enjoy and best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season!

Michael B. Prystowsky, MD, PhD
