Dear <<First Name>>
Welcome to our new look eNews and website.
2014 promises to be a challenging year for the vocational education and training system. Western Australia has implemented the introduction of Future Skills WA. Future Skills WA is a new way of funding training in response to a national funding pact between the States and the Commonwealth for the introduction of a demand driven student entitlement model. See further details of Future Skills WA here.
At a Commonwealth level, the Government has instigated a Senate inquiry into TAFE operations, accessibility and public funding and the impacts of a competitive training market on TAFE. See story here.
Here in WA, the State Government has convened an independent review of the vocational education and training system which is being Chaired by Emeritus Professor Margaret Seares who is due to report to the Minister by the end of April 2014. Further details on the WA review are available here.
Additionally, the Commonwealth Government is also conducting a review into the demand driven enrolment funding model of the University system, while the national schools’ curriculum is to be reviewed yet again.
FutureNow will of course respond to these reviews as appropriate and will keep you informed of progress in each of the areas. We look forward to meeting the challenges and creating opportunities for our industries in what will most certainly be a year of change. We would be pleased to hear your views on these and any other workforce development matters. Thank you for your continuing support and best wishes for a happy and successful 2014.
