Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness
12/19/2013, by John Kincaid

Lesson 90: Why Did Christ Die?

By faith, flood your soul with this thought: why did Christ die? What was His purpose?

He died to free you from the sin that entangles you; you can’t escape without Him.

Our sins may be deep, but Christ makes His infinite strength available to rescue us.

Phil.4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Reflect on His grace, riches, and power that He offers you.

John 1:16 from his fullness we have all received grace upon grace

Col.1:19 in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell

Eph.3:16-20 according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that you, being rooted & grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth & length & height & depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. He is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us

God exalted Christ so that He might give repentance and forgiveness of sins.  Acts 5:31

Repentance is not possible unless flesh is put to death. Faith is how we remain (abide) in Christ and receive His power to cleanse.

John 15:3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.

Rom.11:20 They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear.

 About This Series

The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21

- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work
