Lesson 98: By My Spirit, Says the Lord
Zech.4:6 Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.
As we battle sin, never forget our duty, but never forget the power of the Spirit assures victory. Killing the flesh is your duty, but His work. You put it to death by the Spirit.
By faith, use every means of grace that God provides. Rely on His Spirit. Only the Holy Spirit can convince your heart that sin is dangerous not desirable.
John 16:8 he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment
If we could read the Bible and recognize sin by logic alone, we would see more repentance. The flesh will thrive unless the Holy Spirit convicts us of our guilt.
Only the Holy Spirit teaches us how Christ delivers us from sin. Look past the discouragement of this life, to the eternal glory, and be encouraged.
No unbeliever can imagine what God has in store for those who love Him. But God has revealed it to us by His Spirit.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
