Lesson 97: Dead to Sin, Alive to God
Rom.6:5-13 if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.
For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
Think of Christ on the cross, in agony from the burden of my sins, dying to pay the debt I owed. Paint the blood of the Lamb on the doorway of your heart every day.
Exo.12:22-23 kill the Passover lamb. Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood… touch the lintel & 2 doorposts with the blood… the Lord will strike the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood… the Lord will pass over your door and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you.
About This Series

- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
