Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 95: Eager to Walk in Holiness
Christ died in order to purify us, and to make us eager to walk in holiness. He even protects us and limits the temptations we face.
Titus 2:14 [Christ] gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness & to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous (eager) for good works.
NIV translates this verse: “a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good”. King James Version says a “peculiar” people.
The Greek word translated peculiar means that God is around his people. This Greek word came into the English language as perimeter.
God’s circle protects His people. No temptation, no sadness can touch you unless it passes through God’s circle first. Imagine a circle with Christians inside, and Satan's arrows outside, trying to penetrate the circle.
God lets some arrows pass through His hand, then He gives you the grace to bear it, while He comforts you. As you endure, God gets the glory.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
