Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 102: God's Holiness
Holiness begins, not with us, but with God. God is absolutely pure; He hates sin.
Once you see God is perfectly holy, you will realize how evil it is to sin against Him. Recognizing this is the first step in pursuing holiness.
God calls every Christian to a holy life. No exceptions. Not just pastors & missionaries.
1 Pet.1:15-16 he who called you is holy; you also be holy in all your conduct… because God is.
God calls us to holiness because He is holy. He requires us to be like Him, not like our culture. It doesn’t matter whether our culture is pagan, or professing Christians who are sort of holy.
If you are a true believer, you’re His child now. He wants others to know you are His child.
Holiness means conforming to the character of God. Holiness is a central part of God’s character.
Even when we know the right thing to do, sometimes we hesitate (too proud to confess a sin). But God always does what is right, without hesitation. His holiness is free from all evil.
1 John 1:5 God is light; in him is no darkness at all.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
