Volunteer Corner
Volunteers are extremely import to Better Days! They help with cleaning at the shelter, assistance at the spay/neuter clinic
and help at all of the thrift stores. If you are interested in helping Better Days by providing time, please visit the volunteer section of the website. Committed, dependable volunteers who can dedicate a time on a regular basis are always in need. Fill out the on-line application to be contacted for shelter volunteer orientations or stop in the thrift stores for more information on thrift store volunteering. The new year is a great time to commit to volunteering more!
This month, meet Karen.
Karen Moose has been volunteering at the Newville Thrift Store for over a year. Karen is a huge help in the store, signing up for many hours a week and is always able t o pitch in when another is unable to volunteer. She is a great salesperson, helping the customers find that “perfect item”. There are some who ask when she is working just so they can get her friendly advice and listen to her laugh. She has a big love of animals and dog-sits many animals on a regular basis.

Meet Spunky! Spunky is a little survivor. He came to the shelter super thin and very sick. When he showed up at the shelter his jaw appeared to have been broken, however, had already healed. He had infections in his mouth and appeared to have been possibly hit by a car. However, through all his pain and discomfort, Spunky continued to fight and would still purr when his caregivers came to give him medicine.
For more information, visit his Petfinder ad or fill out an adoption application to meet Spunky!
