Make the Historic Core your holiday shopping destination!

With more than a hundred independent local businesses, there's something here for everyone on your list.  Give the gift of art from one of our galleries, shop our dozens of boutiques for everything from vintage to modern looks, buy a night out on the town with gift certificates for some of LA's top restaurants and bars, find crafts and jewelry in our mom & pops and at our Historic Downtown Farmers Market - so many possibilities!

For a categorized list of all the businesses here, visit our website.

Thanks for your commitment to shopping local and supporting small businesses in Downtown LA!
The sidewalk dining ordinance that our office brought to Councilmember Huizar last spring was successfully championed and approved by LA City Council in November.

Whereas sidewalk permits previously took up to a year with fees up to $6,000, the new pilot program reduces these prohibitive measures, creating a $500± permit fee that can be issued over-the-counter within a day.  This pilot program will only be successful if businesses take advantage, so please apply for your business if you have sidewalk dining and furniture.

Applications are available at the counter at the LA Dept of Building & Safety.

It's been a great few weeks of holiday flicks at Farmers & Merchants Bank.  Join us for the last in this holiday-themed series on Monday, Dec 9th for National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation!  Doors open at 7:15, Movies start at 8pm

Blankets, pillows, and low chairs are highly encouraged.
Popcorn, snacks, beverages and more available before and during the screening.

Thanks to all our local businesses who have participated in making this such a successful event: Bar Ama, Big Man Bakes, Curt Darling Salon, Salon on Main, Kale Cart, Raw Materials, and Bronzed Aussie

December begins an exciting, action-packed few months of grand openings on Broadway.  First to open will be Urban Outfitters later this month, taking over the Rialto Theater with a rehabilitation of its iconic marquee.

In early January, we'll welcome Ace Hotel - the hip bouqitue hotel chain's 5th hotel in the US.  The hotel will feature events and performances at the United Artists Theater, great eats at a NYC-famed restauranteur's first LA concept, plus bars and retail.

Following that, we'll have some major retail openings including Acné, Tanner Goods of Portland, Aesop, Kinfolk and more.  Follow our social media and website for all the updates!
Happy Holidays!  Wishing you great celebrations, light, love, and a happy and healthy 2014.

Best,
