A Holiday Message from Governor Fred Wallace

Fred and Teresa Wallace     "Weeellllll Pilllgrims, we are two months into this really great year. We have gained some, and lost some, however it appears to these strange seeing eyes, we are gaining more than losing. This is because of the AWESOME work that everyone is doing.
As you may remember one of the goals of this administration (The WHOLE Team) is to see the district back in the top five in Optimist International, so keep up the good work. We have really large shoes to fill, following the last two administrations. I know the First Lady is excited to follow Flo and Evelyn, as am I to follow Larry and Bill.
Our incredible Secretary/Treasurer Ray Hilts will give his detailed reports (Got Some, Spent Some, Have Some)Wayne and Donna Bohrn are all over the Leadership and Development Training program, and 'The Twins' (Chris Stearns and Robin Stanhope) have a stupendous Membership Plan. Ben DeRemer is looking forward to getting you patches all over your banner for Achievements & Awards. Sarah Newton and Linda Jackson will make sure all info is to you timely and all praises are posted. Not enough room to mention all Chairs, but know for certain that Teresa and I really appreciate all your hard work, and successes.
OK now who will be the the person to jump into the 'fire' (oops, 'position') as New Club Building Chair? I love volunteers, but if you miss a meeting we will use the absentee election system (if you're absent, you're elected).
Each day I see that there has never been a greater need for service clubs that can help our youth and communities. In your daily walk always remember WHY you became an Optimist, and more importantly "WHY YOU STILL ARE ONE". Please let me know your answer to both questions.
Ok the Cats' gonna hibernate now, see ya' soon. Call, Text, Facebook, (no Tweeting), Snail Mail or Email if you need me."
                -PNWD Governor Fred Wallace

Committee News and Announcements

Membership Committee:
"For those of you that do not know us, we are the Chris & Robin Show for the PNWD Membership committee for 2013-2014 year.  We are both very excited to get to know the members of the District.  A lot of times, we concentrate on the Board of Directors, well not this year..this year it is about YOU, the MEMBER!!
We have attached a copy of our program that we presented to the District in Hood River this past October.  This year's contest is a winner for all of us, your community and especially the kids in your community. Our goal is to help grow your club with new members.
  • Prizes: Ice Cream Social at the end of the year for everyone at 4th Quarter Convention.  The losing team will SERVE the winning team at the event. You do not want to lose this contest!
  • Also prizes for the most Members by an Optimist from each Team and overall.
Good luck everyone and have fun with this.  Implement a good, clean competition amongst yourselves and members to help you accomplish our goal and yours....help kids!
                                                     - Chris Stearns and Robin Stanhope

Junior Curling:
OPTIMISTS SERVE 576 JUNIOR CURLERS! Jr. Curling "Getting Started Camp"
The Optimists' Getting Started Camp in Prince George was another huge hit. So far, 23 Optimists' camps have taught 151 big kids to teach 425 little folk to curl. Thanks for buying all those raffle tickets, everyone - you've helped a lot of kids.
                                                      - Al Kersey
