Lesson 80: Reverence from Knowing God by Faith
We know so little of God because, in this life, we only know Him by faith. The only evidence we have of this invisible God is faith. Faith is the only way to reach Him.
Heb.11:1 faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. KJV
Heb.11:6 without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Our relationship with Him can be summed up as walking by faith. 2 Cor.5:7 All we can do is trust what He has revealed about Himself.
This knowledge of God by faith is all we need to be saved, and all we need to kill sin. We only know a tiny fraction of God, but we know Him truly.
We know Him well enough that we should love Him more than we do. We should serve, obey and trust Him far more than we do.
Compared to Noah, Abraham, Joseph, David, Daniel and all the Old Testament believers, we know God far better because Jesus came.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
