As the year comes to a close, we reflect on what a blessing it has been to share Fukuda Sensei's story all over the world.
Keiko Fukuda
April 12, 1913- February 9, 2013
While we were saddened by the loss of Sensei Keiko Fukuda in February, her spirit is definitely with us as we share her life and legacy. As I hear from so many of you how her steady presence and lessons are well remembered, I am reminded of her "gentle way" that extends far beyond the judo dojo. Each time we screen Mrs Judo: Be Strong, Be Gentle, Be Beautiful, we honor the memory of Sensei Keiko Fukuda whose 99 years well-lived remains an inspiration to others to be fully present.

Highlights of 2013:
- The international debut at the Moscow International Festival of Sports Movies and being awarded the grand jury prize for Best Documentary!
- The Mumbai International Women’s Film Festival and FICTS Festival -Sports and TV Movies in Milan, Italy!
- The film was screened at the Seattle Asian American Film Festival, Sacramento Japanese Film Festival & Boston Asian American Film Festival spanning it's reach throughout the U.S.!
- MRS. JUDO was selected to be part of Sheffield/Doc Fest’s Videotheque program that made the film available for viewing by film industry professionals; and received over 2,200 viewers as part of Xfinity’s On Demand Cinema Asia America.
- And last but certainly not least, launching the MRS. JUDO Community Engagement Series with events at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles!
