Thanks for being an awesome lady!

Hey Awesome Ladies!

Just wanted to send a quick thanks to everyone who came out yesterday. I think it's safe to say an invigorating and inspiring discussion was had by all. I so appreciate the generosity of spirit and smarts that each one of you brought to the table.

Let me reiterate my lofty goal: To make Philadelphia a model city. A model of the way we believe that female artists should be treated, a model for the kinds of work that's possible when such awesome artists are allowed to access their full capacity, a model for how an imperfect situation can be shifted through collective effort and a will to do better.

What comes next? Three things.

1) I'd love to share some of the thoughts and observations from the session on my blog Swim Pony Musings so that your amazing ideas can spread far and wide. I took copious notes and will be busy editing these into a post that I'll want to post in the next couple days. I'm not putting names to any of the comments and may summarize sections rather than listing every individual comment. Still, I know there may be some things folks don't want put up there and things that seems super personal or potentially revealing, I'll keep out. (If there's anything you specifically want me to skip including, just drop me an email.)

And of course I'll let all of you know when the post goes up.

2) I'm going to schedule another meeting, this time in the evening to catch 9 - 5ers, covering the same set of questions and discussion points. This is so the many folks that that couldn't make it have a chance to do just what we did yesterday. I'll keep you posted and you're welcome to come, though it will likely be much the same in terms of content as the last session.

3) I'm going to think long and hard about how to take the thoughts and feelings and translate them into a setting where we can start to take action. This is really where I think the Awesome Lady Squad will become a real superpower. I know that we are capable of changing some of the problems we see and my hope is to come up with a plan for how to do that. If you have ideas, feel free to send them along!

That's it for now.

Thanks for being awesome,
Adrienne
