Players will build one X-Men and one Avengers team. Each team must consist entirely of characters with the associated keyword. The Phoenix Force and associated fragments and themed teams are the only tactics allowed. The loser of the map roll will determine which team they will play and their opponent will play the other.

Each team must consist of one hero (a human, male hero), one sidekick (of fewer points than the hero), one scientist (a figure with the scientist keyword), one monster (a figure with the monster keyword), and one damsel (a female character). Special abilities will be given to each of these roles. No tactics.
