The NAIL-ing List: Neil Alexander's News & Happenings
Welcome to the end-of-year Edition of the NAIL-ing List.

Greetings all! Here's wishing you all a happy new year and all the best for 2014. 2013 was amazing! Here's a year end wrap up with shout outs and thank you's to all the amazing people I got to meet and work with this year. I am blessed by the sheer variety of situations I get be a part of, and by your generosity and support.

2013 was the year of my first Solo Piano CD "Darn That Dream: Solo Piano Vol 1". I've been overwhelmed by the postive response the CD has received, and I'd like to thank Jim Eigo & Jazz Promo Services for his talent & expertise in getting the CD to the right people. (reviews are Here.) 2013 was also the 100th Anniversary of the premiere of Le Sare Du Printemps (The Rite Of Spring) and I contuned my solo piano concerts, performing the Rite Of Spring and selections from my solo piano disc. I am planning a Solo Piano Vol. 2 disc which will feature that piece.
And speaking of the Rite Of Spring - I did several concerts this year, the most noteably among them being  two performances in NYC with Riedel Dance Theater's brand new choreography. Company director & choreographer Jon Reidel & I had been talking about doing a new version of Sacre for years, and 2013 was the year it finally happened! thanks to Jon and all the wonderful people & dancers in his company that made it happen.
This year also saw the creation of two new groups - "Mr Gone" and "Le Jazz Electronique" - with my good friend saxophonist Peter Furlan. (more?) Peter and I share a plethora of musical influences and have a "resonance" with certian styles and his expertise, musicaltiy & consummate professionalism make it an absolute pleasure to work with him.

Thanks to my dear friends on the left coast James & JoEllyn Musser, who contunue to include me in the "Fullonthropy" project despite my being 3K miles away. This year saw an amazing show with James (guitar), Doug Lunn (bass), the great Alphonze Mouzon on drums along with Modern Dance by JoEllyn & David Norbert. What a geat time!

The Fullonthropy show took place at Alva's Showroom in San Pedro, while I was in town to do a solo piano performance. The folks at Alva's were truly wonderful, and everyone made me feel so welcome. I am eternally grateful. If you're out San Pedro way, make sure to stop in as they continually have great live concerts.

2013 was my second time attending the ELECTRO-MUSIC FESTIVAL in Greensburg NY. This amazing 3 day event features Electronic-based musicians from all over the world. I got to hobnob with like-minded people,  perform (twice) and came away with a host of new friends.

Thanks to Ted Orr and all the folks in Blue Food for making me feel right at home. You guys gave me my first gig in Woodstock NY. I"m very much looking forward to our upcoming gigs in 2014.

Thanks to the kind folks at the Kaatsbaan International Center for Dance who always treat me with the utmost courtesy & respect.

This year also saw numerous gigs and events with artists like The Beacon All Stars, Aleah Long & En Full Circle, Michael Clark & Dancers, The Peter Furlan Sextet (& Trio!), NA3: Steller Groove Ensemble and The Bean Runner Jazz Project, along with numerous solo performances.

LOOKING AHEAD -
Things are already heating up for next year, with several Mr. Gone shows already booked. I also have several shows with a group called Piktor's Metamprphosis, playing more of that great old Jazz Fusion featuring tunes by Return To Forever and David Sancious & Tone.

All in all it's been amazing year. Onward!
Thanks for joining me on the ride. BEST WISHES for 2014.
