Lesson 118: Jesus' Holiness, Part 3
The Pharisees hated Jesus. They considered themselves very holy, but Jesus exposed them. They must have tried every trap to catch Jesus in some sin, but they couldn’t.
Similar to the leaders in Daniel 6, they desperately wanted to uncover some dirt. Jesus asked the question in front of His disciples, who lived with Him and knew Him well.
The holiness of Jesus went far beyond the absence of sin; He perfectly obeyed His Father. Jesus came to always do His Father’s will.
John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
John 6:38 I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.
John 8:29 he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.
If Jesus did any sinful act, the Pharisees & disciples could have observed. But even the attitudes and thoughts and motives of Jesus were perfectly pure.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
