Research Workshop in Brussels

Yesterday, DG AGRI organised a workshop "Connecting Research and Practice – Opportunities for Innovation in Agriculture and Rural Areas under Horizon 2020". The event provided more information about on the calls for multi-actor projects and thematic networks under Horizon 2020 as well as guidance on how to set up project proposals. You can find the summary here

As of tomorrow, all the powerpoint presentations will be available on our website. All background information, speeches and video recording on the workshop will be published on our website by January 22.

Stakeholder Workshops on Operational Groups

What is an Operational Group? How can I create one? How do I get funding? As project funding is coming on tap for EIP operational groups, we will organise a series of stakeholder workshops in the Member States. The events will deal with the question of how to set up Operational Groups and will provide the participants with ample opportunity to network with potential project partners. The first workshop will take place in February and another four will follow in the coming months. More information will be available on the EIP events page by the end of January.

Romanian innovation turns waste into money

As a researcher in wine chemistry and wine microbiology, Simona Bisboaca from Oradea (Romania) observed that during the wine-making process, very often the grape seeds, skins and pulp remains were left unused by the local wine-makers. As there were no available solutions for putting these natural residues to use in some way, they were regarded as waste. Ms Bisboaca identified that this so-called waste possessed a significant potential for reuse. As she has always had an interest in the medical benefits of wine anti-oxidants, she came up with the idea of developing a pharmaceutical product rich in anti-oxidants. Read more here.
