On December 27, 2013, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the Inspector General for Health & Human Services (OIG) issued joint final rules on the Physician Self-Referral or Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute. These final rules amend Section 411.357(w)(13) of the federal statute, extending the EHR safe harbor protections under the Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute through December 31, 2021.
