Individuals with a behavioral health condition are nicotine dependent at a rate of two to three times higher than the general population and consume over 34% of all cigarettes smoked in the US. The decision last week by CVS Caremark to stop selling tobacco products effective October 1, 2014, in over 7,600 pharmacies across the United States, is a milestone for the tobacco control movement. Click here to read Dr. Jeff Hoffman's thought provoking look at this important news.

We are also excited to announce that we will be hosting the first annual National Conference on Tobacco and Behavioral Health on May 19-20 in Bethesda, MD. It promises to be a dynamic gathering of your colleagues and thought leaders from around the country. Over the course of one and a half days, we will provide a platform for attendees to share their perspectives on how the health system working collaboratively can decrease statistics related to behavioral health conditions.  Click here to learn more and register.
