The Historic Core saw roughly 2000 visitors on Saturday, January 25th for A Day on Broadway - a celebration of the 6th anniversary of Council District 14's Bringing Back Broadway initiative. The day showcased all of Broadway's progress thus far, highlighted its rich history, and gave a glimpse at new projects to come.
A hugely successful event, A Day on Broadway brought together Coucilmember José Huizar's office, the LA Conservancy, the LA Historic Theater Foundation, our local BIDs and Broadway property and theater owners, as well as many generous volunteers. Thanks to all who enjoyed and spent the day with us on Broadway.

Thanks to all who joined us for our Pedestrian Safety Community Meeting on Wednesday, January 22nd.
Police Captains Mike Oreb, John McMahon, Ann Young, and Senior Lead Officer Deon Joseph were joined by 60 members of the community to discuss pedestrian safety and quality of life issues that affect Downtown Los Angeles. We're glad to provide a forum for our local community and LAPD to communicate together, share ideas, and have the voices of enforcement officials and residents alike be heard.
Thanks to the Shomofs for hosting the discussion at the Alexandria Hotel in the Palm Court Ballroom.

Nationally known band and local residents Foster the People unveiled a new mural in the Historic Core last month. The mural was commissioned in preparation for the release of their new album, Supermodel, and is featured as the music video for their lead single "Coming of Age".
The band celebrated the mural's completion by playing an impromptu concert in the parking lot.
Watch the time lapse music video, then go see it in person off of Main and Los Angeles Sts just north of 6th St (the north side of the Santa Fe Building).
