UAE Embassy Celebrates National Day
More than 400 guests including senior US government officials, business leaders and members of the Washington, DC diplomatic corps gathered at the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC to celebrate the UAE’s 42nd National Day. The annual event also recognized UAE-US philanthropic partners who “make a difference” through work being done in areas such as education and healthcare. “PeaceGame” Explores Path to Achieving Peace in Global Hotspots
Supported by the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC, the inaugural PeaceGame, an initiative co-hosted by Foreign Policy and USIP, brought together 45 leading experts to game out peaceful solutions to some of the world’s most challenging conflicts. The first simulation, held in December, addressed the crisis in Syria and participants represented different views and stakeholders in the conflict. The next PeaceGame will take place in Abu Dhabi. Dubai Wins Bid to Host Expo 2020
After much anticipation and three rounds of voting, the 168-nation Bureau International des Expositions in Paris chose Dubai as the host city of the 2020 World Expo. The UAE will be the first country in the Middle East to host the event in its 150-year history, underscoring the country’s emergence as a regional leader and hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. Ambassador Verveer Lauds UAE Women’s Leadership in Abu Dhabi Visit
During a visit to Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Melanne S. Verveer, Executive Director of the Institute for Women, Peace and Security at Georgetown University, and former US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, spoke at the Second Regional Conference of Women Police. While in the UAE, Ambassador Verveer visited Zayed University where she highlighted the importance of female leadership and mentorship, and also met with Federal National Council (FNC) First Deputy Speaker Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi. Emirati Students Attend Annual Employment Forum in Washington, DC
More than 1,000 Emirati students who attend universities across the US gathered together over Thanksgiving weekend at the UAE Embassy’s fourth annual UAE Student Forum. The event provided an opportunity for Emirati students to explore future career paths and network with their peers who are studying in different states, with Embassy diplomats, and with more than 39 public and private sector UAE companies. UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan delivered a special video message to the students, advising them on the importance of perseverance and hard work and their important role as the ambassadors of their homeland, the UAE.
