FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THIS SUNDAY, October 13, Peruvian Electro Cumbia duo Dengue, Dengue, Dengue! takes back Columbus Day in a celebration of New World Global Electronic sounds from the southern hemisphere live at SOB's for their NYC debut! Joining the celebration with a special set will be avant-garde dance music project Afrocaribbean X (short for Afrocaribbean Experimental Ensemble). This event is presented by SOB's and #FUTUREROOTS.

Conceived in 2010 in Lima, Peru by Felipe Salmon and Rafael Pereira, Dengue Dengue Dengue! is an audio video project which fuses the psychedelic sounds of '70s Peruvian Cumbia with the deep bass of dub, UK bass and the modern sounds of techno and dancehall music. Renowned for their vibrant live performances, Felipe and Rafael don striking masks in audiovisual shows which are half DJ set and half live, remixing and making mash-ups from their own tracks and accompanied by live visuals (created by VJ Sixta for this tour). Listen to music by Dengue Dengue Dengue! here.

Afrocaribbean X (short for Afrocaribbean Experimental Ensemble) can be solo act or an orchestra, depending on the context and occasion!  The project ranges from innovative dance music to explorations in avant-garde and African diaspora rhythms. Lead by composer/ethnomusicologist Efraín Rozas (of the Psychedelic Salsa group, La Mecanica Popular). Listen to music by Afrocaribbean X here.

precolumbian is a philadelphia-based genderqueer dj, musician, artist, media activist, and popular educator. She transforms dancefloors into block parties with a unique blend of tropical rhythms, indie anthems, dark crystals, and booty jams from all over the globe. creating spaces that are positive, inclusive and safe; she works tirelessly to resist racism, misogyny and homophobia… in the club! Listen to her mixes here.

Doors for this event will open at 10PM, and the party doesn't stop until 3AM! Advance tickets can be purchased here. For media inquiries, please contact Andre Barnes at andre@sobs.com or Natalia Linares at nati@conrazon.me.
