New Year, New Moon, New Earth
This January marks not only the beginning of a new month and a new year, it begins and ends with a new moon. The new moon is a poignant time to contemplate new beginnings, that moment of fertility which will birth the new experience, the one that will change life indelibly.
Numerologically speaking, the year 2014 adds up to 7, the number associated with deep contemplation and spiritual reflection. By most accounts, 2013 has given us all fertile ground for contemplation. The challenges facing our Earth, our environment, our culture and our way of living loom so large that it often seems difficult, even impossible, to think of viable and appropriate responses. Maybe it's the thinking itself that is primarily the challenge.
I submit that our spirit always knows the way, if we allow time to ask it. May we all allow more time to commune with Spirit in this New Year, especially when we feel overwhelmed or at a loss to find the way. May this new year be the one in which love is elevated to its proper place at the helm of our thinking, planning and doing. And may Earth be blessed when we do.

44 Earth Blessings
From January 1 through February 13, I'll be posting recorded Earth Blessing prayers on a special Facebook page, 44 in all. 4 is the number associated with Earth and also with solidarity. 44 Days of Blessing Mother Earth is an activation of Hope and Faith. Reading the news reports about the changes in our environment can be debilitating and paralyzing. It’s a challenge to stay hopeful, and even more challenging to know what to do. The one thing we can always do is Pray. Prayer is the activation of our hopes and well wishes. Prayer is the communion of self and Soul. Prayer is the Loving Landscape where All is Well. The Holy Universe Book Club
Together, we will read and discuss the most powerful book for discovering our own unique ways to Love Earth that I have read. The book is the story of a Seeker ~ an average guy looking for meaning in modern day life. His journey offers insights we can all use in navigating the environmental, social, and spiritual crises our planet faces. The highlight of this book club will be a visit with the author when he comes to LA in April. We will meet for nine weeks at a location in Eagle Rock on Mondays at noon, beginning January 20.
