Join us Friday, February 7 at noon, as we continue our series on Health Care for Oregonians:  Health Care Reform in the Salem Community.  We are proud to feature an outstanding panel of speakers: Ruth Rogers Bauman, Cheryl Nester Wolfe and Dr. William C. "Bud" Pierce

This panel program will explain how Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs) hope to improve the delivery of Medicaid and OHP services to the uninsured and under-insured population of Oregon. The goal of CCOs is to provide a more coordinated and efficient health care delivery system to this sizable population.  Federal financial assistance and oversight will be a mandatory part of this system overhaul.  No doubt there will be high hurdles on the road to a successful state-wide CCO program.

Ms. Bauman, Ms. Wolfe and Dr. Pierce are key players in the ongoing implementation of our local Mid-Willamette Valley CCO, known as Willamette Valley Community Health,  which currently has 75,000 enrollees.

Ruth Rogers Bauman is currently the CEO of ATRIO Health Plans, a Medicare Advantage health plan in Douglas, Klamath, Marion and Polk counties, and is Chairwoman of the WVCH Board of Directors. She spent more than 25 years with Oregon Regence Plans, serving as Vice President of Actuarial and Underwriting Services and as Director of Actuarial Services.  She has advised a variety of state and federal task forces dealing with Medicaid and Medicare issues.

Cheryl Nester Wolfe, RN, joined Salem Health in 2007 as the Sr. Vice President of Operations and
Chief Nursing Officer. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Salem Health and the current Vice Chair of the WVCH CCO.  In addition she served as Past President of the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives and is Secretary of the United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley.

William C. “Bud” Pierce, M.D., has been in medical hematology/oncology private practice for 20 years. He is a member of the Salem Cancer Institute and the OHSU Knight Cancer Center. He serves on the Oregon Quality Corporation and the WVP Health Authority Board of Directors. Dr. Pierce is Immediate Past President of the Oregon Medical Association, and has served as President of the Marion/Polk County Medical Society.
