Lesson 136: Satan Leads Us To Despair
The Holy Spirit will reveal truth and convict us of sin as we read Scripture. Since we can’t see the enemy within us (only God can) we need to read the Bible daily.
Be careful to let the Holy Spirit do the searching. He doesn’t need your help. If we try to do it alone, Satan will trick us.
Rev.12:10 I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
There are 2 dangerous pitfalls if you try to search your own heart:
1) discouragement: Satan uses our search to lead us into hopeless despair.
2) barking up the wrong tree: Satan can use our own deceitful heart to lead us on a wild goose chase, where we focus on symptoms or secondary issues, and never look for the root cause.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
