Lesson 138: Enticed
Indwelling sin deceives our understanding.
Satan wants to deceive our minds, bit by bit. He entices the deceitful desires of our old self.
Eph.4:22 put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires
Titus 3:3 we were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.
Satan lures us away from being watchful, then gradually, away from obedience.
Hosea 7:9 Strangers devour his strength, and he knows it not; gray hairs are sprinkled upon him, and he knows it not.
We drop our guard, we neglect our responsibility to be watchful / prepared.
1 Cor.10:12 let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
Gal.6:1 if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
