14 Fun Date Ideas for Singles and Married Couples by Arlene Vasquez, Certified Matchmaker and Dating Coach

It is so great to have a relationship where both partners contribute to planning the dates, rather than one person always having to be the one who thinks of everything. Sometimes, you know you want to do something but you just don't quite know what to do.  Here are some fun date ideas to choose from.  For Valentine's Day, just add chocolate, flowers and a thoughtful card.

Sneak Peak at Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Trends by Lisa Emelo, Image Consultant and Personal Stylist

Step out of the cold and look forward to warm weather and hot clothes! Here’s my sneak peak at
Spring/Summer 2014 fashion trends:

Pastels. Playful pink, icy blues and mint greens... don’t forget Pantone Institute’s color of the year, “Radiant Orchard.”
  1. Sheer Accents. Bares just enough skin in all the right places.
  2. Crop- Tops. For those with a hard core… these tops work well with high-waisted bottoms.
  3. Boyfriend Jeans. Add some sleek pieces to this relaxed fit to avoid looking sloppy.
  4. Black & White Prints.
  5. Trick the eye by hiding unflattering areas with dark print while highlighting other areas with white.
  6. Fringe. Can give any outfit a bohemian feel.
  7. Lady-Like Floral. Nothing feels more feminine then flowers.
  8. Skinny Pleats. Delicate pleating brings a breezy vibe to soft dresses, skirts and tops.
  9. Athletic Details. Sporty pants, tops, sneakers and bags are on trend.
  10. Mid-Length Skirts. For those who feel uncomfortable in a mini or a maxi-skirt.
  11. Printed Bomber Jackets. A change from the structured blazer, a jacket with a playful vibe.
  12. Top-Handle Bags. The perfect purse thanks to its clean lines, structure and practical size.
  13. Pointy-Toe Flats. Finally a shoe that makes legs longer without a four inch spike.
  14. Tuxedo Trousers. The clear vertical line makes for sleeker legs.

The Origin of Valentine's Day

There are many stories about the origin of Valentine’s Day.  A popular one is about Valentine an Italian priest that later became bishop who secretly married couples, contrary to the laws of the Roman Emperor.  Valentine lived in the second half of the Third Century. According to legend, he healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius.  The story states that before his execution he wrote her a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell.  In 496 AD, Pope Gelasius declared February 14 to be the Feast Day of Saint Valentine, Patron Saint of Lovers and Engaged Couples.
