Beaujolais Medieval Village Tour

Focus on Our Beaujolais Medieval Village Tours

One of our most popular and longest established holidays is our Medieval Village Tour in the heart of the beautiful Beaujolais countryside.
We now have 3 variations of our Beajolais Medieval Village Tour:
Self Guided 7 nights, 6 days Walking - £635
Self Guided 5 nights, 4 days walking - £505
Self guided holidays start at the beginning of March and run through to end of October.
Guided 6 nights, 5 days walking - £655 19th-25th October
All explore a wonderful circuit around the southern part of the Beaujolais region, known for its pretty historic villages built from a warm golden limestone, and stay at a number of wonderful guest houses.
Let's leave it to our customers to tell you what they thought of their experience:

"Had a great holiday, brilliant experience and all the guest houses were of a very high standard. Thank You!" C Toms, UK.

"Overwhelmed by the level of hospitality received. We have walked with other companies in France but this was by far the best. A thoroughly enjoyable experience." S Adkins, UK

"Enjoyed excellent food taken with the family at Montgelin, Villa Toscana and Les Averlys, where the wine tasting was much fun. The farm setting and guest interaction at Chapi was very nice. All meals including picnics were super" E Stryker, USA

"We felt part of the country, and not just that we we're skimming the surface. We were delighted and amazed we got on so well with people. Local produce, regional dishes, home cooking all contributed. In general the holiday fulfilled all our expectations and provided much more!" J Kay, UK

Competitions

Competition: We have 3 copies to give away of Cicerone's Outdoor Photography by Jon Sparks & Chiz Dakin . Visit our competition page for further details.
You have until the end of February 2014 to enter.
This book is a great way to help you get the most out of your time outdoors and improve your photography. It shows how your activities and photography can fit together and even enhance your enjoyment of both.
You can read our review of the book on our blog.
There is information on what equipment to take or leave behind on a walking trip and the book looks at ways of capturing the 'I was there' picture, so you can show how you are connected to the landscape - the emotions of any companions you were with and the exhilaration that being out in the elements can bring.

Look out for further competitions in 2014, including French Lessons and Terry Cudbird's Walking the Hexagon - An Escape around France on Foot.

B&B - "Chambre d'hotes"

As you may have noticed from some of our customer testimonials, it's not just the walking and beautiful countryside that make our holidays special; we could not create these walking holidays without the fantastic B&B's that we work with. With regard to holiday accommodation, our philosophy is simple; we choose places that will let you sample the local way of life. We look for places with bags of local character, these could be cottages, old farms, former mills, manor houses or even chateaux. In France most are "Chambres d'hotes" style, the equivalent of bed and breakfast.

For example, on our Beaujolais Medieval Village Tour, you may stay at Domaine des Averlys in the parish of Lacenas in the heart of the vines. Mireille and Etienne are proud of their vines and love passing on their passion for their domaine and, in the confines of their vaulted cave, they'll take great pleasure in helping you to discover the character of their wines, whilst taking the time to share a typical winemakers aperitif.

Event Breaks / Tailor-made Holidays

Tailor-made guided walking holidays can be organised for a choice of weeks for private groups. The minimum size of the group will depend on the holiday and prices will be dependent on the numbers in the group. So if you see a guided walking holiday that you are interested in but the week does not suit, please let us know and we can see what we can organise or if the length of the holiday does not match your needs or the walks need to be easier or harder then we can look at adapting it for you.
Similarly with Event Breaks, if there's an event you want to attend and incorporate into a holiday let us know. But, obviously if you need to get tickets for an event, then the sooner you act the better.
For example, Lyon, France’s second city and gastronomic capital, is a lively historic city ideal for a city break attached to a walking holiday in the Beaujolais
Or in the UK, you could attend the End of the Road Festival or the Chalke Valley History Festival as part of a walking holiday in the wonderful Wessex countryside.
