Pooch Coach outta town!

I'm going to be out of the country from Feb 1st - Feb 9th.
So, this is head's up to call right away to get in a training appointment before I'm leave.  Or, feel free to schedule something for after I return.  I'm still available for emergencies while I'm away, just call my regular number.  415-643-3333

Where am I going, you ask?  Well, that's part of my next section...

February Training Tip

Traveling with your dog.

The Pooch Coach Advanced Dog Training
Kompis river tubing in Belize!

Dogs love to explore as much, if not more, than their human counterparts.  So, why not take them with us when we travel?  I've taken my dog Kompis all over the US and even to Belize and the Caribbean. It's much easier traveling in the US than Internationally...

My latest venture has been trying to get all the paperwork needed for her to go to the British Virgin Islands (BVI). What an experience (and expense)!  For starters, she needs the typical health certificate and records of all her shots.  Plus, she needs a completed Dept of Agriculture import form faxed to the
BVI's 10 days in advance with arrival & departure dates and times. THEN, they require a special titer (blood) test for rabies that is only performed by one place in the entire US! (Kansas State University)  Lastly, once you get your health certificate (from a USDA certified vet), you still need to make an appointment with the USDA office to get a stamp of approval on the certificate and titer test.  And, of course, each of these steps costs a pretty penny. What a hassle!!

But, since this trip is for another special project, and since I love a good challenge, I'm prevailing... and I'm getting my dog to the BVI's, dammit! :-)

If anyone needs help with or info about traveling with your dog.  - or of course, training to assure your dog is OK in a new place, busy airport or on a plane, feel free to give me a call.

In the meantime, here is an article I wrote on hotel stays with dogs to give you some tips.

And here is an article on car & plane travel with your dog that I worked on with Jacqueline of Yellow Dog Blog:

Safe travels everyone!
