ChekhovFest
The University of Manitoba's Black Hole Theatre Company Presents
Aristocrats by Brian Friel
January 24-25 &  January 27-Feb 2
at The Gas Station Arts Centre,
River & Osborne, Winnipeg
for the MTC MasterPlaywright Festival

From the Press Release
The Black Hole Theatre Company is bringing Brian Friel, widely known as, the Irish Chekov to ChekovFest 2014 by presenting Aristocrats. One of Brian Friel’s masterworks, Aristocrats is inspired by Chekov’s Three Sisters,...

In Ballybeg Hall, we find a decaying home, a decaying family, and a decaying aristocratic tradition. The irony inherent in the title echoes that found in Chekov’s great works which expose the almost elegiac decline of the aristocracy caught between past and future, between rural and urban lives and narratives.
ARTS ENDOWMENT FUND
The University of Manitoba's Faculty of Arts Endowment Fund is to help support the advancement and enrichment of the teaching, research and scholarly goals of the Faculty of Arts' students, faculty and staff.
