The Present & Future for Maranatha Health
Dear MH family,
May we begin by wishing you all a happy new year and hoping that the Christmas season was a special time for you and your families. It is an exciting year that lies ahead of us and we at MH are anxious to see what is to come.
What about the factory?
The battle to have the factory in Kamwenge shifted continues. We ask that you would stay hopeful along with us and pray for a good outcome in this matter. As we continue to await the result, we feel we now have a fresh opportunity to reimagine and expand the vision of MH. We have thus have decided to pursue a course of action for 2014 independent of our Kamwenge site. If and when the Kamwenge site is able to operate again we will be sure to inform you all!
What now?
To allow us to move forward wisely, we have decided to give ourselves six months to settle on a future plan for MH. We are exploring some very promising ideas and we are keen to develop and research these further with the MH Board before we agree together on a course of action. We feel that whatever we do it will be important that it is consistent with the original vision and intent of MH. For this reason, we do not want to rush the planning process.
What about donations?
In the interim we ask that you do not give any further donations to MH at this stage. We have been amazed and humbled by the continuous support and donations so far despite the challenges MH has faced. However, our project cycle with our funding partner, GDG, came to an end as of the 31st of January 2014. We had hoped the situation would have been resolved by then but because it isn’t, we consider it is only fair that both you and they approve our future plans before you continue to invest in the work of MH.
If you have automatic payments set up through Give Now, you can cancel these by logging in to www.givenow.com.au. If you have automatic payments established through your bank, please contact your bank to cancel these. Any eligible payments you have already made to our gift fund this year will of course still be tax deductible and we will issue statements for these at the end of the financial year as usual. Be assured that the donations we still have will be used to maintain and protect our site in Kamwenge, as well as to launch our future endeavours.
The future
We hope that you will continue to keep something aside for MH so that when we launch our new plans, you will be in a position to get behind them. We also hope that you will continue to think about/discuss/pray for the mission and vision of MH as we prepare to leap into the great unknown. We feel proud of what MH has achieved thus far and are sure there is still much to be done. MH is in an exciting position: many fresh ideas to explore; an incredible team of people (all of you) in Australia, who are deeply passionate about making change in the world; a stable organisation; a financial base on which to launch any new endeavour; and several years of valuable experience under our belt.
Thank you for being co-conspirators in this attempt to make a small pocket of the world a better place. We hope that this speed hump in the road will only lead to greater opportunities for MH to fulfil its mission.

In summary, we continue to hope for a positive outcome in Kamwenge, but over the next 6 months we will re-imagine the organisation and look forward to an exciting new beginning later this year, with or without the Kamwenge site. While we will not be collecting donations in the interim, we ask that you continue to pray for MH and consider supporting a re-invigorated and re-imagined MH later in the year. We are excited and hope you are too. Watch this space!
