Comments & Opinion
Respect and Coexistence
It has already been written much about the King of Games, and especially by the peculiarity that leads to interact in the same Teams and Competitions professional players along with amateurs who rarely understand the game and the rules.
This vertiginous and risky sport where everyone who plays agrees on the unique and incomparable sensation which means to practice it, is further more complicated in these situations that does not occur in any other sport (perhaps only in sailing) where experienced and talented professionals players, who know the game and rules, must often forget their superiority and knowledge, to coexist with the inexperienced players.
As in every sport there are more characters in this movie and not left out of the discussion, we refer to the referees and umpires.
Thank God today and finally, very few tournaments are played around the world without the performance of a Professional Umpire. Therefore in tournaments of low, medium or high handicap everyone have realized and understood that it is essential that who must conduct the games should be qualified, prepared and knowledgeable of the rules.
As we need today the successful Patron to hire the stars of the sport, that we also need these professional sport men who train every day knowing with the hellish competition that have to struggle in these days, there are also strictly necessary the professional Umpires.
These gentlemen in the vast majority are very experienced former players, which have been prepared by the most representative and recognized World Federations such as the U.S.P.A., H.P.A. and of course the Asociacion Argentina de Polo, they have a task of great responsibility, and for that are trained.
In a game listed as a "Sport of Gentlemen" we all play for the honour to bring the trophy home, but also is currently a sport where there are many interests for the money involved and that is certainly also a very high risk sport, and in our opinion it is essential for everyone to respect the authority instead of protesting and complaining without reason and partially.
So Dear Ladies & Gentlemen Patrons: we need you in order to keep the sport alive, recognising both players and referees as Professionals in their respective roles.
Dear Ladies & Gentlemen Professional Players: do not neglect the practices and daily workouts, and do not argue with umpires, you are not helping with that attitude and finally would prejudice you on one way or another.
Dear Gentlemen Umpires: have proper attitudes to keep calm a game that is very risky, and especially take care and be patience with Patrons who do not know the rules properly and with the Professionals Players who under pressure they discuss looking for excuses.
In all areas and environments of life there are rude and arrogant people, but inside of the polo fields we do not need them.
