News from the North Canton Public Library

Stay tuned because ncantonlibrary.org is getting a makeover. We're excited about all the new website will offer, and we hope you will be too. The site is set to lauch February 14. Until then, here's a little sneak peek:

This annual exhibit features fantastic artwork created by students of the North Canton School District.

NEW THIS YEAR: You are cordially invited to attend opening receptions for each of the shows. Receptions will be held the first day of each exhibit from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Art from the Classroom exemplifies the importance of and commitment to visual artistic education in North Canton. The Little Art Gallery is proud to be a part in furthering this dedication by highlighting the creative talents of children in the community.

Thanks to the kind generosity of library supporter, Noreen Dimmerling, the North Canton Public Library now houses this Optelec Generation 2 Clearview+ visual magnifier for reading. This state of the art system will magnify anything placed on its base from 2.7 up to over 72 times its original size, while maintaining perfect focus. Noreen donated the magnifier in memory of her father, James A. Gaffney.

Crafter’s Corner

Meditation and Relaxation

Antique Appraisal with Bill Gill

Bill Gill is a seasoned veteran in the auction industry, having more than 40 years experience. Bill joined the Kiko auction team in 1973, became a licensed real estate agent in 1974 and a licensed and bonded auctioneer in 1986 - specializing in antiques, collectibles and appraisals. Bring your treasures to the library for Bill’s assessment. Advance registration is NOT required.

we'll miss you, major.

Our hearts are broken due to the loss of our favorite canine friend, Major, the tail-wagging tutor. Gentle, lovable Major was a certified therapy dog who visited the library each month so children could practice reading to him. His presence was such a bright spot in our children's department and we will all miss him.

Major was adopted by his mom, Lynnete, from G.R.I.N. (Golden Retrievers in Need). Lynnete continues to be very involved with G.R.I.N. and is a strong advocate for homeless Golden Retrievers. If you would like to honor Major's memory, we can't think of a better way than making a donation to this wonderful organization that has given him and so many other homeless Golden Retrievers a second chance.
