January saw some exciting progress for the Networks. We continue to work diligently away at preparing for the 2014 Rural Health Services Research Conference, as well as getting ready for the promotion of this years Collaborative Team Awards. The RHSRNbc, accompanied by the Centre for Rural Health Research, also took part in a weekend retreat, during which time we brainstormed ideas for the coming year, as well as focused on a clear vision for the year. However, we are always open to input, so if there are any programs or resources you would like to see the Network develop, let us know at info@rhsrnbc.ca.

Join us from April 10-11, 2014 at the Manteo Waterfront Resort in Kelowna, BC for the 2014 Rural Heath Services Research Conference, entitled "Building Intersections for Vibrant Rural Communities: Research on Health, Wellness, and Place." A new way of looking at best practices in Aboriginal communities

Emergency Room: Life and Death at VGH, a six-part documentary series challenges viewers with some of the most pressing health care issues right now. Episodes were filmed at Vancouver General Hospital, and are made available online. The documentary's interactive website also features discussion boards for healthy debate on current service and care issues, as well as pages for people to share their emergency care stories. Introduction to Systematic Reviews

This one day course is intended to provide participants with an understanding of systematic review methodology and what is entailed in completing such a task. Participants who attend the one day course will then have a clear idea of the work required in completing a systematic review. They will also have an opportunity to refine their research question.

Funding Opportunities
RHSRNbc Travel Bursary Competition
The RHSRNbc offers four bursaries--three national bursaries of up to $450, and one international bursary of $750--to subsidize the cost of travel, accommodation, and other expenses related to conference participation. Bursaries are awarded to RHSRNbc members who have been invited to present their rural health services research orally or as a poster at either a national or international conference. This application has a rolling deadline, so be sure to get yours in soon! Find the application on our website.
