Lesson 145: God Works in You, Part 2
1 Thes.4:7-8 God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
1 Cor.6:18-19 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?
Gal.5:16 walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
The Holy Spirit draws us to holy living by helping us see our deep need for holiness. He reveals specific areas of sin; only God can expose our hearts.
The car’s side mirror warns that objects in our blind spots are closer than they appear. We are blind to our sins until God shows us how serious they are.
Satan wants to keep us blind spiritually, so that we can’t see our sinfulness. We want to believe Satan because of our pride.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
