Lesson 146: God Works in You, Part 3
Mature believers are at risk of greater pride; we know the doctrines and all the rules. But we may be unaware of our critical, judgmental, unforgiving spirit.
Rev.3:17 you say, I am rich and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
David took another man’s wife then had him murdered. 2 Sam.12:1-13
David was not repentant; instead he was ready to give the death penalty for a lesser crime. He was spiritually blind to these awful sins until Nathan said “You are the man!”
This is how the Holy Spirit makes us aware of our sins, and then enables us to confess. The Holy Spirit begins His ministry of making us holy in the cesspool of our heart.
The greatest miracle is the first Christmas, when the holy God came to live among sinners.
But that’s not the only time the greatest miracle ever happened. It happens every day for every Christian.
God the Spirit lives in each believer. The Holy Spirit puts on the wading boots and walks through the sewer in our heart with His flashlight, shining it to reveal our sin.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
