Keep it Simple!
Power Supply + Charger + UPS
All in one unit

UCS-CHR is a combined charger and power supply with dedicated outputs for both charging and power supply. With a large input range 85~264VAC/120~370 VDC it suits most applications requiring a combined power supply and charger in a small formfactor. UCS-CHR charges the lead acid battery by floating charge. Floating charge enables the power supply to determine where the watts are required instead of a fixed ratio between power supply and charger.  When mains power fails UCS-CHR automatically switches to feed the application with battery supply uninterrupted. (UPS function). UCS-CHR has two relay out for mains missing & Battery low. The potential free relays are normally closed type.

UCS-CHR24V55W Features.

Output for AC mains failure potential free relay.

Output for battery low voltage potential free relay

Battery +/- pole reverse connection protection

Protections for overload

Protection for over voltage & short circuit.

Prevent deep discharge of battery.

Din rail mountable or direct on backplane.

• 24VDC or 12VDC

55W or 155W

The small form factor and the combination of power supply and charger built into one unit makes the UCSCHR24 ideal for remote applications where UPS backup is required.

Why use UPS enabled power supply?

In many remote environments it is crucial to see what's caused the stop in water supply or the power outage in a substation. If the RTU has non-volatile Ram the events that caused the stop will be revealed later. That was okay some years ago when it was okay to have the consumer as an active part of the alarm system, The consumer would raise the alarm by calling switchboard and complain of missing water or power. The simple alarm system does however not met the demands for uptime in modern infrastructure.
With a UPS enabled installation the maintenance staff will be informed on what happened, and can go online from SCADA centre for forcing values, do online changes etc. to get back in operation asap. simultaneous with this send the maintenance staff out with the right spare parts for fast repair. There are many reasons to use UPS in a substation, the scenarios are similar in both Water, Oil & Gas, Power and Telecom. The obvious reason earlier was poor power networks that caused many shutdowns, in some parts of the world this is still the primary reason to use UPS. But poor power quality is far from the only reason to have UPS on intelligent remote installations.
