"The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself." - C. JoyBell C.

FEET BANKS ...
From: I grew up in Whistler BC, playing in the lakes and mountains. We didn’t have cable TV. After roaming and trying a few other spots in BC I ended up back in the mountains, working in Whistler and living just down the road in Squamish.
Work: I am a writer and I edit the
Whistler Insider Blog for Tourism Whistler as well as a local adventure magazine called Mountain Life. I also write the movie column for Whistler’s Pique Newsmagazine and do whatever else comes along.

Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A: Just being alive and healthy and having an incredible wife and kid and rad friends to awesome stuff with. Also random chaos, it can suck but it makes things interesting.

Q. Your experience doing jumping photos?
A: It felt good. A beautiful Bluebird day atop Whistler mountain, so it’s hard not to appreciate the sun and the snow and the vibe of people stoked to be outside having fun. There were a lot of laughs and it was just fun to do, getting creative with the jumps, falling in the snow. Good times.

Q: What inspires you in life?
A: Good art and crazy people.

Q: Your greatest passion?
A: It’s hard to say for sure: I guess it is making people laugh and making people think, and making sure to have fun as often as possible.

Q: Your driving force?
A:  I lacked a driving force for a while, I just sort of floated and let things unfold as they would. It worked though, now I have an incredible family and they inspire me to focus a bit more and do some of the things I have been thinking about for a long time.

Q: Your philosophy?
A: Do what want when want? Optimism, empathy and mushrooms. Don’t be a dick, don’t be a pussy, don’t be an asshole…. I have so many and they all kind of merge and break off depending what is happening. I guess the main one is to try and leave things better than when you arrived. People, situations, everything. Create change.

Q: Anything in the world?
A: I’d like to start by sleeping for a long time, on a beach. And just take a break for a while to recalibrate. Life can get to be a hustle because we are programmed to always try and advance our situations, so many people feel anything but forward progress is considered a failure. But that can burn you out and fuck up everything. I’d sleep and play with my kid for a while and then get on with things. Movie scripts, books, little filmmaking projects, I am sure I have more projects rattling around in my head than I have time to do. If I could do anything, it would be just go places and meet people and do stuff and have a good time with people I love. I do that anyhow, I just don’t go very far right now.

Q: What are you working on?
A: I guess the main things right now are that I edit the print edition of this magazine and the new issue drops this week
cm.mountainlifemag.ca  and I co-founded this wild film fest, the Heavy Hitting HorrorFest with my buddy. It’s chaos, that is for sure. Heavyhitting.com

Q: Mini bio, interesting facts about you or something special you want to share.
A: I am colour blind and don’t like spiders. I never had electricity until I was six years old and no TV till I was 17. I like pretty much anything outside. I think people should camp and hike more because there are a lot of people out there that dress like lumberjacks but don’t know how to chop wood.
